HINTS & TIPS TO MAKE YOU A MASTER POKAMATES PLAYER!
Where possible try to use an available Triple Score or Double Score marker when playing your hand, thereby tripling or doubling your score.
If you can play in multiple positions, consider your strategy. For instance, don’t make a Triple or Double Score marker available for the next player.
Check out the scores! Sometimes it is better to play a ‘smaller hand’ on a multiple score marker versus a bigger hand elsewhere.
When you include the gambling rules, note that the game changes radically
If you can’t make a poker hand and you are ‘discarding’ a card for no score, see if you can place it in a defensive position where you stop another player from using a Triple or Double Score marker, or perhaps blocking a four of a kind being played.
Always keep a look out for hands that can be played that score in 2 directions.
When you can see the game is coming to an end, make sure you play your high scoring cards, as they are deducted from your final score.
When you are using the gambling rules, note that when you are playing fourth in the round, new possible hands open up for you, by the time you play, and it is therefore often advantageous for you to double your ante.
Likewise, if you are playing first, note that the board changes radically in one round.

If there are two of a kind already played and you can add a third card to make three of a kind, bear in mind that someone will have the fourth card eventually and can play four of a kind which scores very high.
Look out for Flushes! They are easy to make and in some instances only require one card played to score 20 points.
